A Letter to the Struggling

Posted in Monday Pep Talks

To anyone struggling,

I know it’s hard right now. I know you think you can’t go any father or another day with that pain. I know it seems like it will never ever go away. I know it hurts so bad. I know it occupies nearly every thought. I know it affects everything.

But, I am here to tell you that it gets better. You will be okay. You will find happiness again. You will be one step closer to becoming the person your Heavenly Father needs you to become. You CAN do this. But, not alone. When it seems like you can’t go another day or hour get on your kneels and plead for the strength that Christ so willing died to give you. Read your scriptures— DO WHAT YOU KNOW YOU NEED TO BE DOING even when it’s hard– especially when it’s hard. Just do it. Just open your scriptures and study. Just get down on your knees and talk to your Heavenly Father who only wants to help you.

I promise you that as you seek the strength and comfort of Christ and do your part to keep the commandments that you CAN AND WILL get through this. The road may seem long but take it one day at a time knowing that He will always be there with ready to bear you up. Look for the tender mercies of the Lord because THEY ARE THERE ABUNDANTLY. Choose to focus on the the good and seek the good. It will get better.

Sending prayers your way,

Halee

Monday Pep Talk: Distinguishing the Spirit

Posted in Monday Pep Talks

While thinking about this pep talk and what points I wanted to cover I had an impression to type my title, distinguishing the Spirit into lds.org to see what I could find. I found something I want you all to read because I feel like this offers so many different impressions which is great because the Spirit all speaks to us in our very own personal ways. But before you click the link I want to share one thought quickly:

-If you are wanting to know whether or not a thought or feeling is from the Spirit : PRAY. Ask. And I promise He will answer.

Monday Pep Talk: 5 Ways to Improve Your Life

I am kind of laughing at the topic right now because for the life of me I don’t remember writing it as an option…defiantly meant to be I guess. Anyway here are five easy ways to improve your life today:

  • Have a book and read it! Get off social media and read! Reading is not only good for your brain but it helps you relive stress and is a great way to “escape.”
  • I am going to combine the next two because they go hand in hand…read your scriptures and say your prayers! (Bet you didn’t guess that hahah!) I can’t tell you how different my days are without scripture study and prayer. This one will improve your life in so many areas!!
  • Keep your room/space clean. I feel like my room represents my life haha. If my room is messy I feel messy. If its unorganized than I feel very unorganized. Take 5 minutes everyday and tidy up your area. Having a clean space is so important.
  • Drink lots of water! Stay hydrated my friends!
  • Paint your nails. I can’t tell how much better I feel when my nails are painted and neat. Take sometime to pamper yourself and give yourself a mani or pedi.

Now these are just 5 I came up with but there are so many more little points that can help someone improve their own life so comment your “life tips” below!

CHALLENGE: Take at least one of these “life tips” and apply it in your life!

Have a great Monday!!

Monday Pep Talk: How will you be remembered?

Posted in Monday Pep Talks

A couple days ago we had a wonderful person from our small town leave this world to go and live with our Father again.  I was stunned with all the people’s kind words and wonderful things they said about him. I don’t think I ever heard anyone say any bad thing about this kind-hearted kid. I know I couldn’t say anything bad about him. I know without out a doubt that it was his time to leave the Earth but this whole thing got me thinking.

If I was to die today what would people be saying about me? What would people say that I was like? How would I be remembered?

I clearly remember the last time I talked with him. It was a couple weeks ago and I was working at the small convienence store in our town that he used to work at and he was filling up with gas on his motorbike. He came inside asked me how I was doing and bought a pop. He then walked back outside and came back in asking me if I had seen his glasses that he had set down somewhere, which I hadn’t seen. I helped him look and then he was on his way. This also sparked another question: What if I had known that it was the last time I would see him in this life? No, I didn’t know him very well at all but would I have done things differently or said something different?

My point in this post is to remind you how precious each and every day is here on Earth. Someday you will only be remembered. How will you be remember? Is there something you want to change? What do you need to do differently to remembered in a positive way? Also, treat everyone like its the last time you’ll see them because you’ll never know when it is truly the last.

xoxo,

Monday Pep Talk: Prayer in Everyday Life

Posted in Monday Pep Talks

Pray always, that you may come off conqueror; yea, that you may conquer Satan, and that you may escape the hands of the servants of Satan that do uphold his work. -D&C 10:5

There is SO much power in prayer. I encourage you to pray often, even if it just in your heart. You will gain so much from taking a couple minutes to pray. You will be strengthened. You will be filled with peace. You will have the courage to do what is right. You will have the power to resist temptation.

I love this quote by Gordon B. Hinckley that says,

Get on your knees and ask for the blessings of the Lord; then stand on your feet and do what you are asked to do.

Sometimes it can seem like nothing is coming from prayer or that you aren’t being heard but you are being heard and the blessings are coming. Remember everything in God’s timing. His timing is far better than you timing. So be patient and do your part and you WILL be blessed.

Monday Pep Talk: D&C 100:15

Posted in Monday Pep Talks

Therefore, let your hearts be comforted; for all things shall work together for

good to them that walk uprightly.

If you are doing your part and keeping the commandments then you don’t need to worry! God’s got your life in His hands and it will all work out! Sometimes we can’t see the whole picture and we don’t understand why God would do something or make us go through something but as hard as it may seem “all things shall work together for GOOD.” Trust in Him. Because when you live a life for Him, your life will turn out way better than if you would have ever thought. Maybe it doesn’t seem so great right now, and you are wondering how in the world it will ever turn out good, but “let your hearts be comforted; for ALL things shall work together for GOOD to them that walk uprightly.”

Keep the commandments. Do the chalkboard answers. (Read your scriptures, say your prayers, go to church, etc.) A n d  i t  w i l l  b e  o k a y.

love you guys.

Monday Pep Talk: How to be Fearless in a Fearful world

Posted in Monday Pep Talks

i think that it is safe to say that we live in a pretty frightful world. it can be scary sometimes which makes it really easy to be fearful. but we have NO reason to fear.

Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not. d&c 6:36

Faith and doubt cannot exist in the same mind at the same time, for one will dispel the other. -Thomas S. Monson

we can’t let fear paralyze us. we can’t let fear decide. fear is not of God. one of my favorite scriptures is found in 2 timothy chapter 1 verse 7 that explains this well.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear ; but of power , and of love , and of a sound mind.

don’t be afraid! if you are living worthy of the Holy Ghost then you have NO reason to fear. trust in the Lord. give Him your fear and be fearless. (i am not referring to jumping off things or doing something stupid) what i am trying to say is that you don’t need to not do something because of fear. because of a tiny worry in your heart that something might go wrong. trust. believe. live worthy of the companionship of the Holy Ghost and you need not fear.

that scripture in 2 timothy really helped me understand that when i am fearful it’s not coming from God, but from the adversary. as long as you are keeping the commandments and are listening to the Holy Ghost you will be okay. become fearless by giving your fear to God. don’t miss out on so much during your life because of fear. don’t worry about if something “might” happen because chances are it won’t happen.

Monday Pep Talk: How to Lift Others

Posted in Monday Pep Talks

i honestly don’t remember putting “lifting others” as one of my choices for this weeks blog post and so i didn’t think about it much when normally i always have the pep talk ready in my head. so i decided to go to the great lds.org and there was a message by President Uchtdorf ( read here ) with this great quote.

If we truly love our fellowmen, we extend ourselves to help ‘the poor and the needy, the sick and the afflicted.’ For they who do these selfless acts of compassion and service, the same are disciples of Jesus Christ.

so here are some ways that we can lift others around us:

1// smile. just smile. and truly mean your smile.

2// be understanding not judgmental. don’t judge. don’t judge. don’t judge. only love.

3//pray for opportunities. you might think that you don’t need to pray for opportunities because they are all around you but when you pray he will lead you to the person YOU need to serve and lift.

4// be the person that lifts everyone up. be kind to everyone!

5//mail someone a letter or send them and encouraging text. those make the worst days into great days. so just take a few minutes and tell someone how much you love the.

6// give sincre compliments. i always feel better about myself when i give out compliments. my goal this month is to give 3 a day. make it your goal too.

have a great week!

Monday Pep Talk: How to Stop Judging Others

Posted in Monday Pep Talks

How I keep myself from judging others:

(of course I am not perfect and make mistake but these tips have helped me incredibly!)

Judge not, that ye be not judged.

For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

Matthew 7:1-2

-We are told that when we are judging others we are setting the bar for how we will be judged. Sort of makes you rethink all those judgmental thoughts you had right?

-When I catch myself being judgmental I always repeat this phrase to myself, “don’t judge what you don’t FULLY understand.” (which by the way you will never fully understand what that person is going through, only Christ so leave the judgement to Him)

-Remember that we all have situations that we go “I hope they aren’t judging me because they don’t know the full story.”

-Every time you find yourself judging someone replace the thought with 3 positive things about that person and pretty soon you’ll find that you aren’t so judgmental.

happy labor day!

Monday Pep Talk: Be a Beginner

Posted in Monday Pep Talks

Happy Monday! I know this is not the topic you voted for so GO VOTE. It’s hard to write a Pep Talk about something when only 2 people vote! So your job today is to go to my Instagram and VOTE! Be a good citizen, haha!

Anyways regardless of whether you vote for not I still love you…now on to the Pep Talk!

I saw this quote and I absolutely LOVED IT.

Allow yourself to be a beginner. No one starts off being excellent.

How many times do we beat ourselves up for not being excellent? I do it. It’s not fun to look at yourself as a beginner but HELLO being a beginner means you believe that you can become e x c e l l e n t or you wouldn’t have started right?

I know in the blogging world it can hard not to compare yourself to the pros that have done it for years but why should we be disappointed? We believed in ourselves so we became beginners. Same thing goes for learning the piano. If I beat myself up every time I made a mistake for not playing as good as our church pianist wouldn’t I get very far. But because I was willing to take the first step as a beginner pianist  and believed in myself I am now getting to were I can play hymns pretty well.

It takes work to be excellent and it certainly isn’t an easy road but how great is it that we get to be beginners? When we allow ourselves that time to be a beginner we are giving ourselves a chance to become excellent.

So don’t beat yourself up over the fact that you are a beginner. Embrace it because before long (with dedication) you will be excellent.

xoxo

CHALLENGE: Go vote. (If I haven’t already emphasized that enough.) And allow yourself to be a beginner because even the experts were beginners once.
