2 more days till Nebraska! 8-17-18

Posted in Sister Albrecht

Only two more days in this place!!

Not a whole lot has happened since Tueday but I’m not sure when my next pday will be so I thought I’d go ahead and get caught up and send some more pictures!
So this week after half our distract left Sister Sumsion and I were praying that no one would move into our room to fill the four empty beds. The rooms are tiny and with six girls it was hard to get any sleep. But the Lord answers prayers and by some miracle no one moved in. Seriously it is the biggest blessing ever!!!
Because we are doing Visitors’ Center training this week we get to spend a lot of time doing online teaching like we will in the field. Basically we get all the chats from, call all the free Bible and/or Book of Mormon requests. It was terrifying the first few times but the more we do it the more I like it. The Lord is truly hastening His work.
Tuesday night we had a devotional from the Kearons (of the 70). Sister Kearon talked all about competition and comparison. We all try to compete with others and compare ourselves to those around us. She brought up a super neat thought that I had never considered: “Do you think the Godhead competes with each other? Do you think they spend time comparing themselves to each other?” The only comparing you should be doing is with the person you were yesterday.
Brother Kearon talked about how we should be THRIVING on opposition. That’s what makes us stronger. Don’t be afraid of the storms in your life. Embrace them. And don’t forget to be happy- because you can!
That’s about all for now! Next time you hear from me I’ll be in Nebraska!! ♡Sister Albrecht

MTC Week 3

Posted in Sister Albrecht
HELLO!!! Ahh pday (preparation day) is the best day and this week is the best week! We start Visitors Center training tomorrow and so we get pday again on Friday!! Plus we get out of this place on Monday and I am so so excited! They knew what they were talking about when they said “days feel like weeks and the weeks feel like days here.”
Tomorrow most of our distract and the other distract that came in the same day as us is leaving to head to their assigned place. So on Sunday they had us sing a “departing” song in our branch. We ended up singing a new primary song that is my all time favorite, “I Will Be What I Believe.” I attached a practice session that someone recorded because I want everyone to hear this song!! So excuse our sweaty mess and bad singing 🙂
The smoke here from the fires has been crazyyy. Even the insides of the buildings smell like smoke. It got really bad for a few days but it’s a little better now. Pray for rain!!! I attached two pictures so you could see how bad it really it. soo sad.
Things I’ve learned this week:
• We have an Elder from Wales in our distract and he always gets so annoyed when no one knows where that is or what he is meaning when he mentions Great Britian, the British Isles, and the United Kingdom. But we had a substitute teacher from London one day and she taught us all about it and my mind was blown. The picture is kinda hard to read but hopefully it blows your mind too haha.
•The power of the priesthood is real. A girl serverly broke her ankle playing volleyball and they were going to send her back home to have surgery. But because it was late at night they decided to send her home the next day. So the Elders in her distract gave her a priesthood blessing and she went to bed. The next morning she woke up and felt no pain. She was able to walk on it and so they went and did more xrays. Her ankle was completely healed.
•Sister Bingham (General RS President) came and spoke to us and talked about patterns. It is so important to take notice of the patterns that are in the scriptures. Ask, seek, & knock. Pride Cycle. Look to God and live. Keep the Commandments. Remember that when the Lord repeats something it’s important!!!!
•Set goals. Set goals. Set goals. Write them down and look at them often.
•Our morning teacher, Brother Holmes, is the best. Never in my life have I met a person so in tune with the Spirit. He truly teaches by the Spirit and knows exactly what we need as a class and how to help us best learn. The reason he has the Spirit with him so strongly is because he is SO obedient. We’ve been talking a ton about exact obedience here as missionaries. Some people think we have SO many rules and things we can/can’t do. By obeying those rules perfectly we receive spiritually strength and power which becomes so evident when we are teaching. Hence why Brother Holmes is an amazing teacher.  I encourage all of you to find one thing you could work on to be more obedient about and I promise you that you will feel an increase of God’s love in your life.
I know that Christ lives and loves each and every one of us.  How grateful I am that Christ was willing to go through everything I will ever go through so He could understand how to help me better as He walks with me through it a second time. He did the same for you. His hand is reached out, take it. He wants to help you and He will if you ask Him. 💗
Again, thank you so much for your letters and emails. They mean the world.
Have the best week of your life!!

Two down. Two to go! August 7, 2018

Posted in Sister Albrecht

Hi there 🙂

Hope you all are having a great week!!  Thank you all for your emails throughout the week. I read them all and love them. Sorry if I don’t get time to reply to every one.
Life here at the MTC is super great! We hit our half way mark yesterday, thank goodness!!
-Sister Shaw finally said my name right!
-Sister Sumsion and I get told we look like sisters multiple times a day.
-They had Chick-fil-a the other day and I’m pretty sure it was straight from Heaven.
We’ve been reading Jesus the Christ in companion study and it’s been the best. Our goal is to finish the book before we leave the MTC. Our testimony of the Savior has grown so much from reading that book. We’ve also been doing tons of Book of Mormon and Bible study in class and woah how grateful I am for my Savior, Jesus Christ. On Friday, our entire focus was on repentance and how hope is NEVER lost. Repent and He’ll forgive! And once you’ve repented stop looking in the rear view mirror and focus on the road ahead!
On Wednesday Sister Sumsion had an doctors appointment off campus so we got to skip class & go into the “real world” for a few hours haha. It was crazy going out as real missionaries with name badges because some people literally won’t even look at you. If only they all knew the joy that could come from the message we share. 😉 Anyways, we were waiting for the shuttle to come pick us back up when a kinda scary guy came up to us. But no worries he just told us about how he had been reading the Book of Mormon and really liked it. It was super neat being able to talk to a few people and share a brief testimony with them.
I hope you all know that you a son/daughter of God!! You have divine royalty. He loves you so much more than you could ever imagine. He truly only wants the best for you. He truly is our loving Heavenly Father. He loved us so much that He send His Son so that we could return to Him someday.
If you ever have any questions about the great message I am sharing, please email me!! I would love to tell you more.
Christ lives & you are awesome.

cookies!!! We pretty much live off junk food that people send us. (As I’m literally stuffing my face with candy)

temple today! Pretty much our entire zone was there and it was so neat to be in the temple with them. I LOVE the temple and peace that it brings. The Spirit is so strong in that building and there is no where I would rather be.

crappy elevator pic but we fit so many people into the elevators its probably not safe…hahaha. I swear seeing how many people we can fit into the elevator is like the most fun thing for the elders. I think the most we’ve gotten is 23 or maybe it was 26? Basically you don’t breathe on the elevator. But I’m not walking up 5 floors so say a prayer we never get stuck in one haha.

the new mtc buildings are super nice and there are SO many cool murals & pics. We always pick a new room to study in. What a blessing to be able to have new buildings. They are so nice.

Sister “Albberchez” July 31, 2018

Posted in Sister Albrecht

Just here to let you know that I am alive and doing well at the MTC!  Life is super good here expect the food and community showers. Haha but other than that it has been a great week. Although, I am SO SO SO grateful I don’t have to be here for 6 or 9 weeks. That has to be rough.
We stay super busy here and are in classes ALL day. We are learning SO much and the Spirit is SO SO strong here. With all that we are learning it has been very evident that we can only retain this much information because the Spirit is here helping us learn.
My companion is Sister Sumison from Springville. We actually had met before so it was super fun that she gets to be my comp. We are the only two headed to Winter Quarters which is kinda cool. She is 6′ and super great!
Funny/happy things:
-One of our teachers, Sister Shaw, can not pronounce my name. She’s been trying all week and still calls me “Sister Albberchez” or “Sister Albertchet.” It cracks me up but it’s great because then she never calls on me in class haha.
-I know SO many people here. There are tons of people that I knew from BYU here and it is so fun to see familiar faces.
-On Friday we finally got exercise time and holy cow it was the best. I thought I would hate it (because duh I hate exercise) but turns out after sitting inside for 12 hours it was my favorite part. AND BEING OUTSIDE. Oh my. The weather is incredible and we do all the studies we can outside. So now my favorite part of each day is the hour of exercise time.
-I’ve ate more cereal in the past week than I have in my entire life but Friday they had Papa John’s pizza which is my favorite so YAY!! Also one day they had BYU creamery ice cream and I was pumped.
-We got to go to the temple today and it was so nice. So we ate in the cafe there and let’s just say that was some celestial pecan pie and soup. Enjoy your home cooked meals, folks.
-The video on Character of Christ by Elder Bednar was LIFE CHANGING. Oh my. I hate that it is only offered here in the MTC because I would send it to everyone.
-Lol… a dryer literally just exploded and everyone is screaming haha.
Please please send me an email or a screenshot of your recent Instagram post haha. I can read email all day everyday but I can only reply on Tuesdays. Just know it makes my day when I get one so send lots 😉  Thank you to each of you who have emailed me this week. I LOVE THEM! Also here is my address (until August 20th) for those asking:

Sister Albrecht

If you were wondering why I’ve been pretty inactive over here and on Instagram it’s because 1) I just honestly needed a break. 2) Becuase I have been preparing to serve a mission!!!

I never really thought of myself as someone who would serve a mission until I got my patriarchal blessing. That changed it all. It made it very clear that I was to serve a mission and from then on I knew that I would be going. It always seemed far enough away that I didn’t really have to worry about it. Until I came to BYU and everyone started to receive their mission calls. Then the doubts and worries started creeping in. I didn’t want to go to some random place for 18 months where I couldn’t call home. And as dumb as it sounds I didn’t want people to think I was simply going because that’s what everyone else was doing. I wanted to make sure people knew that I going because I LOVE this gospel, not because I wanted to. I loved the college life and would have been perfectly happy with staying where I was at.

But I still knew I had to go despite my worries and so I started my papers. Every day was different for me. One day I would be so excited to go and the next I would just assume not go.  But I went forth with faith knowing that the Lord had a plan. As soon as I submitted my papers I felt nothing but excitement to receive my call and serve the Lord I loved so much. Each day while waiting for my call the excitement levels just grew.

Finally, I got the notification that I had a package to pick up and IT WAS HERE!!! The moment I had waited for.

“Dear Sister Albrecht:

You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the Nebraska Omaha Mission. Your primary assignment is to labor in the Mormon Trail Center at Historic Winter Quarters as a visitors’ center missionary.”

Never have I been so relieved in my entire life. I didn’t have to learn a language (heaven knows I can barely speak English) and I didn’t have to leave this great country. Needless to say, I was and am pumped!

I’ve been pondering a lot about why I’ve chosen to serve a mission.

I’m serving a mission so that someday I can be a better mother to my children. A better wife to my husband. A better friend to those around me. And so I can be a better me. I’ve chosen to serve a mission so that I can be a better disciple of Christ.

But more importantly, I’ve chosen to serve a mission because I love my Savior, Jesus Christ, & His gospel. There is nothing that brings me greater joy or peace than this gospel. I am leaving everything for 18 months so that I can serve Him & share His glorious message with the people of Nebraska. I will do everything I can to spread the good word so that everyone will know of the joy & peace that the gospel brings. ❤

And because this will probably be my last post for 18 months I’d just like to share my testimony with all of you. I KNOW that Christ lives. I know that it is only because and through Him that we can return to our Father in Heaven someday. I know that as we do our best to keep the commandments that we will prosper in the land, meaning that we will be OKAY. I know that life is rough and is far from easy but I know life with Christ is so much better. I know that He has a plan for each one of us and it is far greater than what we could ever imagine for ourselves. Learning to trust His plan isn’t easy but it is SO worth it. I know that He does hear and answer our sincere prayers. I’ve seen it in my life too many times to deny it. It isn’t always in the way or time we want but He answers. I know that the blessings of the temple are REAL and that as we strive to keep the covenants we have made there we will be blessed. I am so incredibly grateful for the knowledge that families can and will be together forever if we do our part and follow Him. I know that we are sons & daughters of God. We have divine royalty and a special purpose here on Earth. I know that we are of infinite value and are oh so special to our Heavenly Father. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that when we take the time to read and ponder the messages, there is a power that comes into our lives. I know that Joesph Smith was a prophet of God and that God and Jesus Christ did appear to Him in the Sacred Grove. I know that Russell M. Nelson is the prophet of God on the earth today. I know that as we heed his counsel that we will be okay and that everything will work out. I could go on and on but know that I know that this is the true and living church on the earth today and I am oh so grateful for it.

I wish everyone could understand how much JOY & PEACE came from truly living the gospel of Jesus Christ. Life is hard, no doubt, but life with Christ is SO much better! I can not imagine my life without it. There is nothing I want more than to help others come to understand this for themselves which is why I am dedicating 18 months of my life to serve the people of Nebraska.

If you have ANY questions about what I believe, want a free Book of Mormon, or are just wanting to know more please see Or if you’d like you can email me at and I would love to help you.

See my post on Sister Missionary Tips here.

much love & I will see you all in a quick 1.5!

Advice for those Leaving on Missions

A while ago I shared on my Instagram stories asking for advice for those of us leaving on missions soon! I had a lot of you ask me to share that advice with you so here it is!! Also at the end, I added links to every blog post and website that I found useful so check those out too. 🙂

@meredithduffield –

“- follow your mission’s FB page (basically everyone has one)

– shop at TARGET (that’s where I’ve found allll the good stuff- luggage, clothes, etc.)

– get in contact with someone who just returned from there

– duolingo,, and YouTube language sites”

@krapylime –

“Know that it will be hard. No matter how strong your testimony is, there will be hard times where going home seems a lot easier. But enduring to the end of the mission and finding joy in the little things is so worth it! Focus on the people. Find durable but comfortable shoes. They don’t have to be ugly, cliche missionary shoes. You can find good ones for less at places like Nordstrom Rack and through online sales.

Bring exercise ideas because if you’re stuck inside during workouts, it can get repetitive and boring! Take pictures with people. Those are the most treasured ones afterwards! Also, be super diligent with journaling every day. Sadly after you come home, you forget people’s names and little things that happened. If you can in your mission, take a variety of efy songs and Motab. Every mission is different about that, but the music gets pretty bland after a few months of listening to the same songs

This is so long sorry 😂 also! Don’t forget to just love your companions. It’s hard to live with a random stranger who might not have a similar background or opinion. The only way for your companionship to have the Spirit is to stop looking for bad things that annoy you and serve them everyday and pray to love them more. Hugging and saying I love you helps too! Just remember that you were called to that mission because the Savior needs you there. You’re not called to a place, but you’re called in place of the Savior. Everything will work out! Love every second! It goes by soooo fast.”

@faithdanielle08 –

“Just love the people and the Lord with ALL of you that you possibly can. Serve hard when you don’t feel like you can anymore. Pray it out. Serve your companion every day. And when you look back at the end (and every day) offer it as your sacred offering to God. Remember that you won’t be perfect- ya repenting is the most precious thing to our Savior, so if you mess up, don’t get discouraged, just trust the Savior, take His hand, and step forward.”
